| α1-MG

α1-microglobulin (α1-MG) is a small globular protein. It is distributed in blood plasma and in the extravascular tissues of all organs. It is synthesized in most cells of the body, but mainly in the liver. It binds and degrades heme, is a free radical scavenger, and is also a reductase. The protein is thought to protect cells and tissues from damage caused by abnormally high concentrations of free hemoglobin or reactive oxygen species (also known as "oxidative stress"). It also has an immunomodulatory effect, and the immune response of lymphocytes and neutrophils is partially suppressed by it.

| Recovery

The recovery of Rat α1-MG spiked at three different levels in samples throughout the range of the assay was evaluated in various matrices.
